With its contemporary design, luxury appointments and sophisticated technology, the 2021 Terrain exudes confidence on the road. Part of that confidence stems from standard GMC Pro Safety1 (Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator and IntelliBeam), or the optional GMC Pro Safety Plus1 (standard on Denali) that includes all of the above, plus Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Park Assist. Click on the features below to learn more about each.
Automatic Emergency Braking works with Forward Collision Alert at speeds below 50 mph to help avoid or reduce the severity of a front-end crash.
Forward Collision Alert can warn of a detected potential front-end collision with a vehicle being followed, so the driver has enough time to make an adjustment. It also can provide a tailgate alert should the driver be following a vehicle much too closely.
At 50 mph and lower, this feature can help the driver avoid or reduce the severity of a crash with a pedestrian detected directly ahead of them — by providing alerts, enhancing a driver’s hard braking or even providing hard emergency braking when needed (limited night and low-visibility performance).
This feature provides a gentle steering wheel turn to alert you when you may be unintentionally drifting out of detected lane lines. You may receive additional alerts. System alerts do not occur if you are using the turn signals or it detects you may be intentionally leaving your lane.
The Following Distance Indicator displays the gap time in seconds between your vehicle and a detected vehicle you’re following. This can help you decide whether you’re following much too closely.
This feature shines a light on any dark driving conditions, automatically turning the vehicle’s high-beam headlamps on and off according to surrounding traffic conditions.
Available Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert can provide side-mirror visual alerts when a detected moving vehicle is quickly approaching or is in the side blind zone. It can help in avoiding lane-change collisions.
Available Rear Cross Traffic Alert can warn the driver of detected left or right cross traffic behind the vehicle when in Reverse.
Available Rear Park Assist can provide distance alerts for nearby detected objects behind the vehicle to help park and avoid collisions when in Reverse and at low speeds.
